Duplex 2507 Overview
Duplex 2507 is a super duplex stainless steel designed for applications requiring excellent strength and corrosion resistance. Alloy 2507 contains 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. The high levels of molybdenum, chromium, and nitrogen give it excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion, while the duplex structure gives 2507 excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

The use of Duplex 2507 should be limited to applications below 600° F (316° C). Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures will reduce the toughness and corrosion resistance of Alloy 2507.

Duplex 2507 has excellent mechanical properties. It is often possible to use lightweight 2507 material to achieve the same design strength as thicker nickel alloys. The resulting weight savings can significantly reduce overall manufacturing costs.
