18 8 stainless steel

18/8 its 18 represents the metal chromium (Cr) content, 8 represents the metal nickel (Ni) content. 18-8 stainless steel: iron + 18% chromium + 8% nickel, can resist chemical oxidation, this stainless steel in the jis code for 304, so also known as 304 stainless steel, including 1Cr18Ni9Ti, 0Cr18Ni9.

Stainless steel grade "304" (S30400) is the name of the grade in the United States stainless steel standards (such as ASTM standards). In China's new stainless steel grade standard GB/T20878-2007, the corresponding grade is 06Crl9Nil0 (the old grade is OCrl8Ni9). This grade is a typical grade of the famous 18-8 type Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel. Because of its excellent overall performance, it is very versatile, so its production and consumption accounts for about 80% of the total austenitic stainless steel.

The main characteristics of 304 (06Crl9Nil0) steel:
Has excellent stainless corrosion resistance and good resistance to intergranular corrosion properties. To oxidizing acid, such as in the concentration of ≤ 65% of the boiling temperature below the nitric acid, has a very strong resistance to corrosion. It also has good corrosion resistance to alkali solutions and most organic and inorganic acids.
It has excellent cold and hot processing and molding properties. It can be processed and produced into plates, tubes, wires, strips, and various products, and is suitable for the manufacture of cold heading, deep drawing and deep forming parts.
