Hot rolling is to roll stainless steel plates at high temperatures to gradually thin the steel to the required thickness. This process can be mass-produced with high efficiency and relatively low cost. However, there may be a layer of oxide scale on the surface of the steel after hot rolling, which needs to be removed by subsequent treatments such as pickling.
The thickness of 304 stainless steel hot-rolled plate is 3.0-250mm, and the commonly used plate sizes are 1500*6000mm, 1800*6000mm, and 2000*6000mm. Special sizes can be customized.
Cold rolling is to roll stainless steel plates at room temperature. Because it is processed at a lower temperature, the dimensional accuracy and surface finish of cold-rolled steel are usually higher. At the same time, cold rolling can increase the strength and hardness of steel and improve its surface finish. However, the cold rolling process is relatively complex and costly.
The thickness of 304 stainless steel cold-rolled plate is 0.3-3.0mm, and the common sizes of the plate surface are 1000*2000mm, 1219*2438mm, and 1500*3000mm. The length can be fixed in coils;
Appearance color
The surface of 304 cold-rolled plate is silvery white, relatively smooth, and feels delicate;
The surface of 304 hot-rolled plate is dark, mostly brown, relatively rough, and not as smooth as cold plate.
In short, the use of 304 stainless steel plate is very common, especially food-grade 304 stainless steel products can be seen everywhere in the kitchen. It is precisely because of its good mechanical and physical properties, as well as the temperature range of -196℃-800℃, that 304 stainless steel material has gradually become the mainstream product in the market.
