409L stainless steel tube

409L ferritic stainless steel is a nickel-free chromium steel. It has strong corrosion resistance, strong oxidation resistance, strong stress corrosion resistance, and has great advantages in process, appearance and application. This type of 409L stainless steel has shown excellent performance over general carbon steel in long-term service, and its cost is lower than austenitic stainless steel containing Ni.

SUS 409L stainless steel tube tolerance chart
Dimension Manufacturing Tolerance
Outside Diameter (OD) ±0.005 inches (±0.13 mm) or as per applicable standard
Wall Thickness As specified by the standard, typically with an allowable tolerance of ±10% of the nominal wall thickness
Length Typically ±1/8 inch (±3.2 mm) for cut lengths, but it can vary depending on the manufacturing method and standard
Straightness Depending on the standard, pipes are expected to be reasonably straight, with some permissible deviation
Ovality Often specified as a percentage of the OD, e.g., ≤1%
Surface Finish As per the applicable standard, often specified in terms of roughness (e.g., Ra ≤ 0.8 μm)
Roundness Typically specified as a maximum deviation from a perfect circle, e.g., ≤1% of OD
