What is the difference between stainless steel 304 and 321 material

What is the difference between stainless steel 304 and 321 material

First, the nature is different

1, 321 stainless steel: It is Ni-Cr-Ti austenitic stainless steel. 321 stainless steel is Ni-Cr-Ti austenitic stainless steel, its performance is very similar to 304, but due to the addition of titanium metal, so that it has better resistance to grain boundary corrosion and high temperature strength. Due to the addition of titanium metal, it effectively controls the formation of chromium carbide.

2, 304 stainless steel: It is a common material in stainless steel, the density is 7.93g /cm3, the common marking method on the market is 06Cr19Ni10, SUS304.

Second, different characteristics

1, 321 stainless steel: with abrasion resistance, high temperature resistance, creep resistance and so on. The Ti of 321 stainless steel exists as a stabilizing element, but it is also a heat-strength steel grade, which is much better than 316L in high temperature, and 321 stainless steel is in organic and inorganic acids of different concentrations and temperatures.

2, 304 stainless steel: the most important element of 304 is Ni, Cr, but not limited to these two elements. Specific requirements are specified by product standards. The common judgment situation in the industry believes that as long as the Ni content is greater than 8% and the Cr content is greater than 18%, it can be considered 304 stainless steel.

Three, different uses

1, 321 stainless steel: used to manufacture wear-resistant acid containers and wear-resistant equipment lining, conveying pipes. It is used in chemical, coal and petroleum industry with high grain boundary corrosion resistance, heat resistant parts of building materials and parts with difficulty in heat treatment.

2, 304 stainless steel: widely used in industrial and furniture decoration industry and food and medical industry.
