1.4438 Large diameter stainless steel pipe

317 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance. Alloy 317 is the most corrosion-resistant of all 300 series stainless steels and has the highest tensile and creep strength properties at elevated temperatures. The high molybdenum content gives the alloy excellent resistance to pitting corrosion.

317L is a molybdenum-containing low-carbon austenitic stainless steel with more chromium, nickel and molybdenum added for better corrosion resistance and enhanced chemical attack by sulfurous acid, acetic acid, formic acid, citric acid and tartaric acid sex. Due to its lower carbon content, 317L also offers resistance to sensitization during welding and higher creep, breaking stress and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. It is non-magnetic in the annealed state but may become slightly magnetic after welding.
