1. Material density: 1.4002 stainless steel forgings and castings have different densities. The density of forgings is higher because during the forging process, the metal raw materials are subjected to high pressure, and the molecular structure is closer and the density is higher. During the cooling process, castings will produce defects such as shrinkage cavities and pores, resulting in lower density.

2. Mechanical properties: 1. The mechanical properties of 4002 stainless steel forgings are better than castings. The internal structure of the forging is denser and the grains are finer, so it has higher strength, hardness and ductility. The internal structure of castings is irregular, has many defects, has poor mechanical properties, and is prone to fatigue damage.

3. Corrosion resistance: 1. The corrosion resistance of 4002 stainless steel forgings and castings is similar. Since 1.4002 stainless steel has a high chromium content and has good corrosion resistance, forgings and castings will take corresponding anti-corrosion measures during the manufacturing process, so their corrosion resistance is similar.

4. Cost: 1. The production cost of 4002 stainless steel forgings is high because it requires multiple complex processing processes and the production efficiency is low. In contrast, the production cost of castings is lower because the continuous production process can be used and the production efficiency is high.

To sum up, the performance difference between 1.4002 stainless steel forgings and castings is obvious. Forgings have better mechanical properties and density, but the cost is higher; while castings have lower costs, but poor mechanical properties. 1.4002 is mainly used in places where 410 and 430 are not suitable because air can be hardened, such as petroleum refining equipment, pressure vessel linings, steam turbine sheets and composite steel plates, etc. Or parts that require higher toughness after being subjected to impact loads, such as steam turbine blades, structural frames, etc.
